SISTER IDA'S LIFE STORY: “affectionately know as “Big Mama” or “Big Sis” was born May 7, 1932 in Lawley, Alabama to the late Finnie and Carrie Driver Huckabee. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at Unionship Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J. S. Melton She moved her membership to Vicks Baptist Church under the direction Reverend Mose Lockett, Sr. Upon the disintegration of Vicks Baptist, she returned to her home church. She served as Treasurer under the direction of the Missionary Society, Deaconess and was highly respected as the Mother of the Church. Sister Cash worked at Chism Cleaners for thirty-one years. She retired in 1985, once retired she embraced the role of “Big Mama”. She was known by her family for her cooking skills, wisdom and her infectious loving smile. We always knew there was something good to eat at Big Mama’s house. She married Mr. Jeremiah Cash on August 14, 1948 and to this union one daughter was born. She departed this life on November 22, 2024 at her residence in Centreville, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and fifteen siblings. She leaves to rejoice in her loving memory a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann (Sylvester) Conwell of Centreville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Sharon (Frank) Bates, Chandra (Nekia) Minor and Tasha Conwell all of Centreville, Alabama and Jerry (Shenita) Conwell of Gallion, Alabama; ten great grandchildren, Amber (Marquell) Jones of Pelham, Alabama, Andrew (Marlisha) Cutts, Jr. of Vance, Alabama, Whitney (Shane) Smitherman, Alvin Haynes, Marquise Martin, Sameria Minor, Imani Long all of Centreville, Alabama; Britney, Brianna and Jeremy Conwell of Gallion, Alabama; six great-great grandchildren, Jade Chism of Brent, Alabama, Alasia and Ajayden Haynes of Plantersville, Alabama, Naomi Jones of Pelham, Alabama and Hannah and Dominic Smitherman of Centerville, Alabama; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
