                                                                            Obituary

Mrs. Clara Sue Leverette was born September 9, 1941, in Brent, Alabama, to Mr. Frisco and Maggie Hill, who preceded her in death. Clara was also preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Lee Leverette, Sr.; her daughter, Denise Lee of Brent, Alabama; her son, David Leverett (Vickie) of Detroit, Michigan; and her son, Keith Leverette. Clara departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at her home. Clara Leverette was a well-respected person in the community. She was raised in the church, Vicks Baptist Church, which later became New Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she was a faithful, and dedicated member until her death. Clara was a part of the Usher Board, the senior choir, and the Missionary Auxiliary. Clara was well respected in her local church and every church she set out to visit and support in any event that was happening in the community. Clara attended the Bibb County public school system. Clara was a faithful member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge #755, where she served in several capacities while she was a member. Clara was a community pillar who would help anyone that she could, whenever she could. Clara has always displayed a life that was after the things of Christ. Clara never met a stranger, she loved everyone, and she always tried to make everyone feel loved and special. Clara served the community in any capacity that she was needed. She frequently helped as needed at the Local District building to pass out food for those in need. Clara, in her early age of raising her kids, had the “community home,” where most kids in the neighborhood would come and enjoy her cooking, rebukes, and chastisement as needed. They all knew when they left that “Mrs. Leverette” loved them. Her home over the years has been opened to so many in the community, no matter what was going on. Clara was well respected and humble as most have always described her. She minded her own business and always showed love. Clara’s name will always be a household name, because of her kindness and concern for others. Clara will be missed sorely by her children, grandkids, great-grands, sisters, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. Clara leaves to cherish her loving memories to: her lovely children, including seven sons, Lee Leverette, Jr. (Lakeysha), Mike Leverette (Sandra), William Leverette, Leroy Leverette (Angela), and Kevin Leverette, all of Brent, AL, Charles Leverette (Lushanda) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Robert Leverette (Betty) of Detroit, Michigan, and four daughters, Carolyn Steele of Centreville, AL, Wanda Leverette of Detroit MI, Kathy Sanders of Jacksonville, NC, and Charisse Leverette of Brent, AL. Clara also leaves to cherish her memories: her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
