June Smith Obituary

CAHABA MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL:  Announce with deepest sympathy the passing of Mrs. June Smith.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the age of 86, June Smith answered the call of Jesus’s voice. June Rogers Swan Smith was born on October 3, 1937, in the union of the late Sally Robinson Rogers and Thomas Rogers in Montgomery Al. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and joined Fresh Anointing House of Worship in 2009. June was a caregiver and cook for over 40 years. One such job includes caregiving for her babies as she called them, Rebecca and Randall Rhodes when she was 14 years of age. She was a caregiver for aunt Charlie Mae Palmore, cousin Martha Williams, brother, sister and two husbands during their transition. She was loved and respected by many. She treated ALL of her children’s friends like they were her own. She enjoyed fishing with her friends, playing cards, the board game boggle, and eating GREAT TASTING food with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Daniel Selmar, and two sisters Lola Mae Dixon Browning, Juanita Rogers; one grandson Jermaine Jackson, two great grandsons Ca’Mari Swan, Cameron Swan and one great granddaughter,De’Shyah Swan. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories two sons Fred and Stanley Rogers, four daughters Martha (Johnny) Davis, Pamela (Robert) Mason, Jennifer Swan (Amos) Finch, and Sally (Phillip) Evans; 3 sisters Karen, Vanessa and Lashonda Rogers, 13 special grand children, Donnell Osborne, Roderiquez Swan, De’Undre Swan, De’Monte Swan, Corvin Swan, Kelderick Swan, LaVosha Swan, Kieria Mosley, Kenderick Swan, Jaelin Fore, Kiyonna Carmichael, Marterrius Moore, Cason Finch; one grand-dog Bailey Evans; 26 great grand children; a host of nieces and nephews, great nephews, great-great newphews and other relatives, cherished friends including Annie Sturkin, Rachel Henry.

Your children knew little that night, though you spoke and said your soul was tired, Jesus called your name, and you answered His call. On this side of life, we loved you dearly, on the other side your spirit longed for our Heavenly Father. Our hearts are broken and heavy, but our memories of you will live forever through your hugs, your kisses, and the smell of your sweet perfume will be all be missed. Your phone calls and your voicemails will now be received through heavens tears. Your birthday and anniversary songs will all be just a memory away. Until we meet another day.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Will be held at Fresh Anointing House of Worship 6000 Monticello Drive Montgomery, AL 36117. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM, will lie in state one hour prior to service.
